Making A Crochet Wire Tiara

Crochet Wire Tiaras

There are some great tiaras about.  Wonderful for weddings or parties or any suitable event!

Having been commissioned to make a couple for weddings, I made some for my website and took a few pictures as I went along to get you inspired to try and make one yourself!

Usually the range of crochet wire jewellery range comes in silver, but I was asked to make a gold one, so here are tiaras made in both metals.

You need a crochet hook and gold or silver plated copper wire.
Also gems and crystals of your choice.  I have used Freshwater Pearls, Glass Pearls and
Swarovski Crystals.

The 'Iona' Tiara

The 'Iona' is a gold wire with Glass Pearls and Swarovski Crystal Tiara.

Firstly the wire shape tiara is created using double crochet stitch and shell stitch.

Glass Pearls and Swarovski Crystals are added.

Lastly a gold head band is joined to create

Knitting a Scarf

As mentioned in my previous blog, I have not crocheted any jewellery yet this year, instead I have been knitting!  It has been lovely siting down in these cold dark evenings and knitting while I watch TV.

When I make my jewellery I need loads of light and so these dark evenings are great for knitting.  It is really easy to knit this scarf.

A Simple Ribbed Cream Wool Scarf

I am using size 6½ mm knitting needles and 3 x 100gm balls of Wool blend Aran.

The stitch is simple rib stitch.  Plain and purl stitch.

1) Cast on 46 stitches.

2)  Next Row:

Knit two stitches and then purl two stitches along the row until the end.

Continue knitting rib stitch for the whole of the scarf.  You can make it as long as you like.  It makes a lovely thick warm scarf.

I have 3 x 100gm balls of the wool to make the scarf really long.

This is how the scarf looks up close.

It measures 18cm by 270cm.

Tip:  At the beginning of each row slip the first stitch, then knit or purl the next stitch.  After that purl two and knit two, or knit two and purl two depending on the previous row.

Hope you enjoy making it.  Have Fun!

Pearl Trend for 2014 - 15

Happy New Year to you all!

I haven't picked up my crochet hook yet this year, but was delighted to receive a pearl knotter tool at Christmas.  Should think it will be fun having a go at this.

Saw this brilliant video which I am sure will help me enormously!

(original link   http://www.beadsdirect.co.uk/videos/how-to-make-a-freshwater-pearl-necklace/  )

Pearls are going to be a strong jewellery trend for 2014.   They are classy and always in style.

These lovely silver earrings are created with pearls and swarovksi crystals

There is a Pearl Exhibition at the V & A Museum in London upto 19 January 2014 http://www.vam.ac.uk/content/exhibitions/exhibition-pearls/about-the-exhibition/

Cultured and freshwater pearls dominate the jewellery market, but imitation pearls are very much in demand.

 Daisy Pearl Pendant

This lovely Pendant is Created using Silver Plated Cooper Wire and Glass Pearls.

Step 1

Put the glass beads onto the silver wire before you start. Then make a slip stitch using your crochet hook.

Step 2
Make a row of single crochet stitches incorporating a pearl into each stitch.

Step 3

Continue until you have used up all the pearls and cut the wire.  Gently bend the chain around to form a circle.

Step 4

To join the two ends, twist the ends together using your jewellery pliers. Put on a small round silver bead and twist the wire to make a loop for chain or neck cord.

You can also use the same process to make pretty daisy earrings.

Hope you liked this and it was helpful.  You can use different beads and gemstones.  Please see my website for more ideas.  www.kellmandesigns.com

How to make a Carnelian and Baltic Amber Semi Precious Beads Silver Crochet Bracelet

This is a lovely colourful bracelet made from Carnelian semi precious beads and Baltic Amber chips with silver plated wire.

Step 1

Firstly put the beads and chips on the wire (around 100).  Make a chain of 32 stitches using a 3.5 crochet hook adding a bead to each one. Join the ends with a slip stitch.

Step 2

Next row, 1 ch and then 1 single crochet into each ch pulling up a bead with each single crochet.

Step 3

Next row the same as step 2.

Step 4

Cut the wire and  twist the end into the bracelet.

You could add more beads at the beginning and continue to crochet more rows to make the bracelet wider.
